The Lighthouse
Robert Eggers somehow always attracts my attention and keeps it.
A film I had pending some years ago, I absloutely fell in love with it. It shows how creative you can be in one location without making it boring, with two stellar performances from Dafoe and Pattinson I felt this was a perpetuating superb experience.
The score, cast, cinematography, the tightness of the frame making it as claustrophobic as the island itself made it all worthwhile.
Amazing work Eggers, once again, you earned my love.
Pd: shots were super creative, with lots of panelling, travelling sideways and compositions that made my eyes go wide despite the lack of colour.
I really loved the shot with Pattinson laying on the bed smoking while the gull knocked on the window, or the symbology of the gull and the sailors. The shot with the hands holding tight the dead gull submerged, and then killing one felt incredible.
All in all a wonderful film in all aspects, not needing much to tell a profound story
