The Long Goodbye
“Well that's you, Marlowe. You'll never learn, you're a born loser.” “Yeah, I even lost my cat.”
“The Long Goodbye” is an iconic swing of the noir genre, other than changing the past, it brings so many features in characters. Marlowe has a clumsy way, but his sense of humor and calm personality bring deeper excitement to the plot. It's comic that he smokes cigarettes in every situation, his character is unserious, and so is the film, which I believe in the 70s made people surprised by the fact this isn’t equal as the noir genre from the 40s. Through the epilogue, he mentions the cat that has disappeared the whole film, and then just pulled the gun. I found this scene to be remarkable because it shows well the foolish side of this film, and for that I’m completely passionate. This film is so precious for me, every detail made it interesting, definitely one of my all-time favorites.
