Suzume
Watched this yesterday & I couldn’t qute articulate why this movie hit me so hard.
Never seen a movie from this director before, but there's something incredibly heartfelt about this. The magic here is used as a medium to explore the unpredictability of life, and how we struggle to come to terms with it even decades after disasters have happened. I've got to say, I cried at multiple times during this movie, by the end I was openly sobbing, but I'd recommend this to everyone who wants two hours of an immersive experience.
It may be incredibly cheesy, but to me the central message of this film is that life is fleeting but beautiful, and while the past may define our present, once it's gone, it's gone– The best way to love something is to let it go, and accept that if it has to, it'll come back on its own.
