The Shining

from the first frame this film drags you in, keeps you compelled to the very end with its terrifying soundtrack that adds to the eerie atmosphere, symbolic imagery where everything is intentional, and the uncomfortable feeling that something sinister is going on from the beginning. while not conventionally scary, (at least not for me) the fear is portrayed psychologically and really leaves you thinking just as the credits roll. the acting is amazing, from all three actors and this film truly is the forerunner of the horror genre.
