Sleepy scene transitions, wonderfully dark and effective styling used to induce the same confusion exclusive to dreams themselves-- which is fucking perfect because (this a huge spoiler but I think it is important to appreciating the movie) THE ENTIRE THING IS JUST SOMEONES BRAIN SORTING ITSELF OUT AS IT DIES. fucking yessssssssss. I read a couple reviews that dislike it's lack of story but come the fuck on. I don't need a whole story, just a beautiful piece. It's art house at it's best. There's so much subtle symbolism too, and not in the desperate need for attention way that current films use to pretend like they are poignant. Extra props for having a diner scene... and It doesn't hurt that Ryan Gosling is sooooo hot in this. Honestly the only draw back is that Ewan has an American accent and that is always distracting.
