Andrei Rublev
You just spoke of Jesus. Perhaps he was born and crucified to reconcile God and man. Jesus came from God, so he is all-powerful. And if He died on the cross it was predetermined and His crucifixion and death were God's will. That would have aroused hatred not in those that crucified him but in those that loved him if they had been near him at that moment, because they loved him as a man only. But if He, of His own will, left them, He displayed injustice, or even cruelty. Maybe those who crucified him loved him because they helped in this divine plan.
I just realized this was made in 1966 and that makes it even better. This film could be only described with one word: poetry. A 3 hour epic story divided in 7 chapters that cross between them of an artist and his connection with god. The ambience, carefully selected music and complex themes like religion and politics in a context in which cristianity and authoritarianism collided makes artist like Andrei Rublev to distinguish because of the artistic liberties and the possibility of reflecting messages either them.
The scene of the raid, in which the battle takes place also surprised me and made me think, this is one of the best films ever made. undoubtedly, this was the most massive, elaborate and expensive scene of the movie, and one of the most important parts because of the impact it makes.
Overall: The movie besides the story of Andrei Rublev, makes a deep reflection of the humanity and it’s spiritual connection, human empathy, behavior and the ability to love.
