Disintegration Loop 1.1
The Disintegration loops is a 1 hour long tape loop recording played for extended time, either noise or cracks increasing as the tape deteriorates. The artwork of the album features a Basinski’s footage of the skyline on the aftermath of the 9/11 attacks wich he witnessed from his rooftop in broklyn being this album dedicated to all the victims of the attacks and their families.
I remember hearing this “album” for the first time a couple of months ago. Back at the time i was very into ambient music, especially an artist named Celer, it was a completely different and new genre of music i had heard. It was majestic but at the time simply and humble, and it made me feel in a extremely peace with myself and my surroundings. As I listened more and more to Celer’s work I began to search and try to find a similar sound that made me fell in love with the world and connect with it and with myself. That was when I found a guy named William Basinski, an experimental artist who got all my attention (and my spotify library too) because of his work.
The feeling that this gives me is ineffable, from the meaning behind it to the music itself that transcends the way of understanding music and in some way creating a beautiful feeling from a horrible event. Feeling in peace thanks to this right now, truly masterpiece of art in general.
