Stalker
me and the boys on a random summer day in 2018
besides any joke and all tho, I can't really put my finger around this, I kept trying reaching for this idea as a whole that would summarize this film but it's practically hard for me to get through that, consuming all of the ideas, queastions and answers conveyed by this film was really too much in a good way, a fill this philosophical where you can spend days talking about ideas presented but by the end I end up in a different thought or idea that's kinda too cliche
cinematography is always top notch, I've find myself trapped in this idea, even tho I'm not that religious, it gave me this idea that the Stalker is more like an angel who guides people and up until then casted away by people when they don't need him anymore, idk bruh that sound absurd considering all of the subjects and themes here but that's the one that came into my mind first, so far from what's really the message but hey Tarkovsky said he hated the idea of symbolism, what you see and what you heard from his film is the imitation of life itself and that's what literally fascinates me from him while watching his films
for me I also agree like art over plot thing, but this feels like a character study as well, the Writer fears himself, like something from him would reveal itself that he might not like, the Professor acts like this intelligent guy, which makes sense but yk while the Stalker is more likely the kinda guy who worships The Zone, which is obvious, idk man
there's also this idea that desires and your love for extential things can control you through your whole life, another one thing is that this is kinda similar to Solaris in some sort of way like the thing you wanted to discover or come to the most ended up controlling you, like here they don't even wanna come inside the room because they are humans, flawed, afraid of what they'll become after that right?
but in the end I love to think of this as something like a compassionate or loving film, because in the end there's a miracle right, as we know Tarkovsky dislikes the symbolism so this is the most thing I can think of, but more likely the Stalker is looking in the wrong place because the real miracle, the one true place where your dreams and deepest desires will come true is in your home, it's like this profound beautiful miracle was sitting in his home, while this sounds cheeky and this is the best I can think of, the true "Room" is your house where hope is found in love, family and human connection, not in that "Zone"
idk man, but I'm trynna come up with my idea and this is it
