Hamnet
Agnes's red dress tells her whole story:
She wears red throughout the film to show how different she is from everyone else. After Hamnet dies, the red disappears.
In the final scene at the Globe? The red returns.
The children unknowingly create Macbeth:
In one scene, Shakespeare's children dress as witches and play together.
The dialogue they perform becomes the opening scene of Macbeth.
Will rewrites their tragedy in Hamlet
In real life, their son died
But in the play, the father dies instead.
Writing Hamlet becomes Will's way of giving his son life again, every time the play is performed.
The playbill hides a secret:
If you pause the frame during the Globe scene, the names on the playbill are actually the actors from the film. A tiny hidden tribute.
“Look at me”
Agnes saying "look at me" is so devastating because Will told her the story of Orpheus and Eurydice, and she needs to know that if everything else was lost, her love would still be so strong that she would look back even though she knows there are consequences.
She asks Will to break the rule of being Orpheus looking back.
