Candy & Daddy
candy darling was a true talent. her character here, whether she's called candy or jessica or rodney dangerfield, is very much within the laura palmer canon. she acts wonderfully, navigating the drunken fugue state of her molester, theatre-homo father and the knight in shining armour boyfriend who seems to be the most confused of them all. though, this is clearly just some drunken improvised session of nothing much at all, wherein the people involved didnt know whether or not to acknowledge the camera, nor did they know what the tone or plot was supposed to be all the way. thank god for that obliviousness though, since it gave us darling saying "daddy, have some dip", among other lines, which had me guffawing terribly. the drunken, sexually inappropriate, transphobic father hit a little close to home, but so did the man coming in to save her, so all's well that ends well i suppose. it's a shame how little candy darling got to do on screen in her lifetime, but she died of boredom so i cant say it wouldve been much fair to keep working her more and more.
