Crash
incredibly immersive, scenes where i close my eyes and i can imagine myself there, can put myself right in the shoes of the characters, can understand why they feel the way they do. the wardrobe was also really great, the streetlights on the leather jackets and car interiors almost made the forms merge into one and what i believe to be latex really helped the 'reshaping the body through modern technology' thing (especially when put next to a character wearing rougher, run of the mill fabrics). absolutely stunning. constantly entranced by cronenberg's understanding of beauty. and YES i was VERY turned on. eroticism breathes through this movie and i feel myself matching it. loved the sound effects and the focus put on certain movements, especially when theyre impaired by injury. you know how i felt about the adultery and the gay stuff (ruthlessly aroused). also just have to mention the desaturated cloudy days and colourful city nights.
my main complaint is despite feeling immersed i wasnt quite invested? i couldnt connect with any stakes or complications or anything, it somewhat felt like the movie was just happening. perhaps thats my own fault, will definitely return for a rewatch. im learning i dont always 'get' a movie first go around, which is a little embarrassing.
james spader was sooo cute in this like a little kitty cat awwww awwwwww
