Obsession

rapists are all around us !!!! and it often doesn’t come from a creepy guy following u into a dark alley, its also most likely ur long time shy, aloof friend who sneaks stares at u from time to time. from bear only asking to “alter” the wish, to him refusing to end nikkis suffering after she begs, his cruelty is the real horror and it is a relief that the movie never denies the fact that he is not a victim. it’s not a masterpiece by any means, but in an age where people still think that sexual assaulters and abusers are this cartoonishly evil villains with blacked out faces and green auras around them, it serves as a nice reminder for them to check their own friend group.  with that being said, it’s disappointing to see the contrast of the violence suffered by the male and female characters. bear and ian get quick deaths, while sarah is seen tied down, stripped naked with her faced bashed and bloody. male directors seem allergic to writing horror where women don’t die in fetishistic, humiliating ways!  also that out of place piss scene ????
