La Haine
La Haine is a work of art, a film that may seem minor but with its minimalist style shows life in the suburbs of France. Personally, I loved this film. I thought it was a story of hate, which is what the title means, and shows how the protagonists hit rock bottom. The protagonists, stoned, and their living conditions create a perfect cocktail ready to explode at any moment. Police brutality and inequality at a critical moment in France's history is what this film reflects, critically targeting marginalized groups and the police in equal measure.
I would reccomend everyone that really loves cinema to watch it at least once.
Also I have to add that this film seems to inspire many others that came after, such as Trainspotting.
