Incredibly unique, undeniably funny, and sneakily quite horrifying. This is genuinely one of the most effective examples of the horrors of capitalism. Unfortunately I feel like it completely falls apart within the last 10 minutes or so. This is such a hit-or-miss movie for everyone who watches it, and fortunately it was a major hit for me. I LOVE this kind of shit, and old ads are such an effective space for horror in my opinion.
I was honestly really impressed at how well this manages to be incredibly engaging and well paced. This is a concept that sounds amazing on paper but could really wear thin very quickly. The information given is just enough to keep you entertained, and the tiny bits and pieces added on make you start to question things at the exact right moment. It’s honestly one of the best paced films I’ve seen in quite some time, which is saying something when basically a series of commercials has better pacing than some major studio films.
If you like analog horror, adult swim sketches, or vintage local commercials this will 100% be right up your alley even if you’re not completely sold on it all the way through.
Also insanely baffling that the Beyond Comprehension Burger has literally everything on it and no tomatoes at all.
