Obsession
Even though I do not generally enjoy the horror movie genre - or, better yet, feel that I can't appreciate it to its fullness because I hate being/feeling scared - I was really enthralled with this film. The dialogue and narrative progression felt very genuine, Michael Johnston (Bear) and Inde Navarrette (Nikki) are a phenomenal acting duo and the photography style added a vintage feel that very nicely balanced the modern setting of the story. Having seen Navarrette in Michael Dowse's 2025 movie "Trap House" (which I disliked), it was amazing to see her in a more interesing movie and prominent role.
The only thing I disliked was how Cooper Tomlinson's Ian was killed, as I feel it was quite abrupt and could've had a more realistic reason behind it (instead of having him come to the house solely to express his shock about his wish coming true, he could've realized that, if it happened, there was something wrong with Nikki a reason to be worried about her and Bear.)
Other than that, it was a great viewing experience, especially as a personal return to a movie theatre (something I hadn't done in quite a while), and hearing that there's a sequel in the works, I look forward to watching it and accompanying Curry Barker's directing career develop.
