The Fire Within
I find that this is Louis Males best work showcasing a man fully embracing the void. There is no happy end.Alain stands between being and nothingness trying to find reasons to live for, meaning to a world devoted from any and ultimately choosing the escape from it.What makes Alain so easy to grasp is that his basis for Suizid is something very familiar, its the fear of growing up and disorientation in the modern world. As Alain says pretty much in the beginning of the movie a man in the clinic has a very organized life something Alain really seems to struggle with culminating in his fear of going back to Paris or New York.On his last days he tries to confront that fear of going to Paris one last time going on almost a journey for meaning meeting many of his former friends. There it becomes evident that Alain struggles to get past the past not being able to find neither stability nor hope of finding a fulfilling reason to live. This is by no means a recommendation for Suizid by Male its rather a showcase of a man who choose Suizid instead of a cup of coffee to put it in Albert Camus words. This makes it really a tragedy of a man struggling to find meaning, struggling to find orientation and choosing the easy way out showcasing in that tragedy that live with its flaws and devotion of meaning is still worth to live for
