“At the end of time, a moment will come when just one man remains. Then the moment will pass. The man will be gone. There will be nothing to show that we were ever here... but stardust.”

Criterion 4K UHD Takes a while to get going plot wise, but man this is the coolest fucking movie ever. Michael Mann combines the great color grading on the criterion edition and the beautiful synthy Tangerine Dream score to craft a mesmerizing depiction of Chicago. Every single frame oozes style and sexiness. A true marvel of cinematography. The final frame of Caan prowling into the night while Craig Safan’s Confrontation blasts through the speakers is unforgettable. I don’t think the plot itself matches up with Heat or To Live and Die in LA, but it’s still great. James Caan just bleeds aura and it’s cool to see some solid supporting performances from guys like Dennis Farina, Willie Nelson, and Jim Belushi. Shoutout to William Peterson as well for his 3 second appearance. Also, it was awesome watching in real time how this film clearly influenced some of my favorite directors’ works
