Amélie
it is one of the best films I’ve ever watched. it is SO ALIVE. and I feel so alive after watching it.
not only do I relate to Amelie and her habits of caring about people, seeing small details, having a revenge on people who bully others and saying to a man of her dreams “no, it’s not me”, even though he knows it’s you on the photo, but also I admire her from the side of how weird she is and how she’s not shy because of that. in some way she is shy and not that talkative and open but she has always been herself from the beginning of the story and she has been there for other people. and I’m so glad she learned how to be for herself too.
the way I knew I was watching a masterpiece only after ~10 minutes and I was totally right (I cried so hard by the end). this film went straight to my top 4 and it will be there for a long long time.
I adore how Amelie had cherries on her ears, ate raspberries from her fingers, was switching off the electricity for her neighbour, how she felt this world in her own unique way.
and finally the applauses to the crew for the way everything is styled and shot. THIS IS BRILLIANT. those broken angles with paris views, fast paced scenes of metro rides and etc, I love it all.
