Adolescence
I have mixed feelings about Jamie. Yeah, bullying sucks and nothing justifies it, but when he tries to make you feel bad for him with the whole “I just wanted to help Katie when she was vulnerable, and she rejected me and then she mocked me for it” thing. Nah, sorry — just because a girl is at her lowest emotionally doesn’t mean she owes you anything, or that she has to accept what you’re offering.
He thinks he has some kind of power over women, and when Katie didn’t give him what he felt entitled to, he broke. Jamie is stuck in this toxic duality: feeling inferior because of his looks, but also superior because of this fake “high morality” he clings yto.
“I could have touched her. Other guys would have, but I didn’t. That means I’m better than them.”I really hope every Jamie out there grows out of this mindset and turns out better. Super necessary show.
