Eternity
I’m so happy I finally got to watch this movie. I thought it was really good and I’m really happy with Joan’s choice.
At first, while watching the trailer, I thought that such a choice would be so hard to make. But once the first scene started rolling, I just knew Larry (Miles Teller) would be the one. It just became apparent to me that choosing your first love over something built throughout your lifetime is kind of crazy. My favorite scene of the entire movie was Joan going back to watch her memories with Larry every single day, even while living her eternity with Luke. It showed how deep and pure their relationship was, even through all the hardships and pain.
I just love these types of movies about life, because it just seems so grand, yet so simple at the same time. And that’s what Joan’s decision was—something difficult but simply right there all along. It reminded me of a few quotes from Everything Everywhere All At Once, with one being—

"Not a single moment will go by without every other universe screaming for your attention. Never fully there. Just a lifetime of fractured moments, contradictions, and confusion. With only a few specks of time where anything actually makes any sense."

Basically what I’m trying to say is, even though Joan’s love with Luke was perfect. It wasn’t perfect as in the time she spent with Larry, the bickering, the arguments, the laughter, the anger, the joy, and whatever made their ordinary love extraordinary. I think you get the gist of it.
I just have so much more to say about Larry and Joan, but I’m getting lazy and this dragging out. So I’ll leave it at that.
P.S. FIRST FILM OF 2026 🥹🥹
