Every child should feel the grip of the sadness that this movie makes makes you feel. Let the sadness build and try to avoid this becoming our reality.
I’ve personally rewatched this five times however I think this is an experience that someone should only go through once. Maybe watch a criminal show if you want something more like this.
My father made my siblings and I watch this yet I don’t regret it at all. If you’ve grown up sheltered then this will open concepts to you that you may not understand nor ever experience. If you grew up with stress and in an unstable environment then you’ll be able to relate to most likely more than one situation shown in the movie.

Only watch this once but after that one watch, try to understand the lessons shown or if you’ve lived in a third world country, accept it straight up.

Once because its nearly three hours but also because unless its your favorite then you’ll find the same vibe by living your life instead.
If you didn’t understand it the first watch then the second won’t be of much help. If you hated it after the first watch then you’ll probably still hate it after a second.

What I do wish people understood is that she didn’t age normally. She was physically an adult woman which meant others treated her as such. Unlike infants or children who are forced to age slowly due to their bodies and the way they are treated, she had a capable brain and an adult body which accelerated her mental age development. Her brain caught up with how she was supposed to act after everything she experienced.

Some of the scenes in this are certainly unnecessary but they do all try to convey a message. Some messages not completely pleasant.
A beautiful movie that keeps getting more memorable as time passes but withouth rewatching. The soundtrack is certainly good enough to warrant a rewatch though.
The scene where it’s revealed that the food is made of insects. The concept isn’t even insanely unbelievable because it is certainly a believable concept (perhaps not the train but the class sectioning)
All throughout the film, we see that he is simply a pianst. It is a movie that shows the horrifying reality of being jewish and the battles you have to fight. The days, the food, the places you have to earn just to live. Yet, he did not fight for he is just a pianst. Even in the end, he still remembered how to play.
