Good Time
perfectly choreographed safdie chaos. as the superior collaboration between the brothers, this makes for one of the most underrated movies of the 2010s. robert pattinson establishes himself truly as a serious actor for the first time— having chased the shadow of his role in the twilight series, his range is unmatched and his role as connie is amazingly convincing and truly hateable. benny safdie is fantastic and you can really feel for him and how his brother manipulates his vulnerability during his trying times. the crazy twist that he jailbroke the wrong guy from the hospital was spectacular. each second glance over connie’s shoulder makes for a constant, thrilling, edge of the seat experience. i hate the argument that “all safdie movies have the same plot”, i WANT to see a manipulative bastard use the environment and the decent people around him to his benefit and then fall flat on their ass, not to mention that this was the film that started the trend and cemented the structure for their following projects like uncut gems and how i expect marty supreme. and that final shot where you cant exactly follow his eyes, which i infer that presents how shifty he is— only thinking of himself after witnessing the junkie’s death is a stroke of genius and makes for the piece de resistance. really impressive.
