Superman
"Who... are you?""A friend."
There's something very sincere and charming about this movie. It captures who Superman is and what he stands for well. It feels like everyone knew what kind of movie they were making and something genuine came out of it. Christopher Reeve does a great job as Clark Kent/Kal-El and it's no wonder why so many people gravitate to his version of Superman. Of course, Christopher Reeve isn't the only star of the movie, Margot Kidder (Lois Lane) is fun to watch and their chemistry with Christopher Reeve is great. One thing that separates this from most comic book movies is that there are barely any fights. Sure, there's enough action, drama, and lives at stake but you don't see Superman fight anyone. Not a complaint on my part but an interesting observation. Without big fights, it makes moments like Kal-el learning about who/what he is from Jor-El (Marlon Brando) hit hard. That perhaps, is my favorite scene from the movie and it's thanks to the stunning visuals. Great film and I'm glad I finally watched it.
