Anora
Damn.
This movie is so amazing, Mikey Madison is awesome, her acting shows so much hidden pain behind Anora's eyes. I think the name changes play an important role in the concept of identity, Ani doesn't want to be called Anora because she associates that name with the pain she's been through, with the real person within her, the one that feels. The same thing happens with Ivan, Vanya is the idealized version Anora has of him.
The sex in this movie also represents the lack of connection that the characters in the movie apparently have; the final scene leaves this clear for me, Anora offered Igor sex since she thought that's what he wanted, but he just wanted to give her a hug, to show her real affection.
I understand why this movie won Palm D'Or at Cannes.
I fucking cried as I haven't in a while
