Babylon
Genuine question, does Damien Chazelle knows how to make a bad movie? a filmography with three 10/10 films, made with love and passion. This film is Chazelle's masterpiece (in my opinion), he uses everything he's learned, the influence he has earned and the people he has met, to go and make a truly unforgettable movie.
Babylon is such a travesy, i don't know how and why people didn't liked this and let it flop, but it's one of the closest things to perfection i've seen. Margot and Diego's performances were award worthy but still this film was completely ignored in every aspect, just thinking about it makes me mad.
The film is messy, chaotic but it's alive and that's the point of cinema. There's this particular scene where they were recording a scene of a movie with sound for one of the first times, i felt the tension, the passion, the stress these characters had and the excitement when the director yelled "Cut!", the ending of that scene was amazing too. The editing of the final scene where Manny has flashbacks of all that happened was perfect too, the cut out papers from that time that told us what went on after all the shit that happened, etc. My eyes were blessed seeing this.
Damien Chazelle, i love your work as much as you love cinema.
