Ghost in the Shell
Man is an individual only because of his intangible memory. But memory cannot be defined, yet it defines mankind.
Before getting into film, I never would've have imagined that an animated film would be this deep, this philosophical.
I've always wondered what makes us humans, what builds our identity; this whole concept of the soul as a ghost the film explores is appealing to me, plus the technology part, can an intelligent entity build a soul by itself? if we merge with computers and information, are we still humans? what is the limit?
Also, I've been discovering a lot about the cyberpunk genre, and that's the reason I watched this masterpiece. When you look for animated masterpieces, this one doesn't show up that much, but it's deserving.
An important point that is not mentioned much, is the soundtrack; those tribal screams, so primitive in such an advanced world reminding the nature of what being a person means, of going back to our wildness.
To conclude, I think everyone should watch this film, whatever it could be for, to hate on society or to question your own existence.
