I thought it did quite a good job of being subversive, the band, the reverse killings, the genuine consequences. The cast were really good and really captured the feeling of a post tragedy American high school - including suprise star j k Simmons. The horror was mediocre but I never thought going into it that it would be that scary. I think the start and end were really really unnecessary and felt like sequel bait. The only thing that didn't really click for me in this was maybe Megan Fox, I understand at the time she was definitely the definitive most attractive actress and that was what they wanted for the subversion to work, but I felt like at least for me she doesn't work for the role - I think they intend for her to be ubiquitously attractive to the whole cast but without the viewer agreeing then that doesn't feel as ubiquitous and then it all falls apart. Otherwise really fun and a great role for Megan fox

Retelling of classic stories in this way or al a ran really get me going. I loved George Clooney's Charisma and it really played well in the favour of a cocky trickster Odysseus. I loved the way the way the main trio played off each other especially in the toad scene. John Goodman is the goat as always. Pretty good looking movie the whole way through, I liked the siren scene in particular but the cinematography wasn't anything to shout home about.

A visually beautiful and emotionally beautiful movie with all the makings of a modern princess bride. Every shot was really masterfully blocked and the colours were chosen so strikingly that each frame is a masterpiece. The relationship between the girl and the stuntman is brilliant and the heartbreak when he finally sees the finished movie almost got me. This is a modern princess bride (1987) - the fall (2006) - I reckon we are on track for another princess bride esc story

What a slop fest. Some parts of this were pretty funny, the occasional slap stick gag or practical effect, but overall it was just too cheesy without enough substance. I was really hoping for this to round out the trilogy and add a sprinkle of sugar to the porridge but alas. I enjoyed the change of genre a bit, it was definitely a change of pace we don't tend to see in modern movie, at all really. I'm not very excited for the horror slop of the rest of reboot if evil deads.
