Delhi-6
Id fucking become a monkey man and come on the verge of death for prime sonam kapoor too. Like id set myself on fire nga. My actual thoughts aside lets dive deep into this film:
This film is WAY WAY WAY ahead of its time, i say its possibly about 50 years ahead. No wonder it went flop. No wonder. Whenever i say a film like this only one thing comes into my mind, the words of satyajit ray, “we have a fairly backward audience.” The only thing imma add to it sir is that not fairly. ALL. The entire Indian audience is backward and stuck in their own cycle of religious dogmatism or their own sense of arrogance. The one who claims he’s progressive is stuck in their own way of dogmatism. No one is truly forward in our society. And thats a fact we must shove down our throats to understand films like these. If a film like this was directed today, riots wouldve been broken out. Directors are scared to make films like these. We have what? Fucking dhurandar 2? That piece of dogshit? That propaganda? No matter how bs congress was, they at-least allowed to show reality. Delhi-6 portrays india in a way that makes u feel so relatable. Ur not being nostalgic or neither of that. YOU RELATE EVERY SECOND OF IT. Those caste lines the breaking of hindu muslim unity what not?
Secondly, its a very great dive into a love story that was prejudiced by society since the start. Abhishek bacchan, why did we hate him? Thank god i was on the non hater side. He doesn’t even look bad hes actually hot. I cant even tell how great of acting he did. Sonam kapoor i wont say anything ur always good. Aditi rao hydari MIND BLOWING acting deadass. Im not even joking what a great performance. That simple bua that most north indians have. (Divorced or single). I say NONE of the actors gave a shit performance rather the polar opposite absolutely nailed everything.
Third, the dialogues and writing bro. Wow. Those lines, regarding caste, religion all of it. Just wow. This is absolute cinema. What a soundtrack too.
The fact is this type of movie can never be released only and until if we actually do smn about our mother india. Only then we will appreciate films like these, i beg anyone that watch this. And youll know most of the matter that plague todays society. “Yaha ke log acche hai, pyaar karte hai”.
Khana toh janwar khate hain, insaan toh rishtey ke liye khilate hain.
some of the lines that i thoroughly enjoyed in this film.
