Daisies

*This film is dedicated to all those whose sole source of indignation is a trampled-on trifle. * I jumped into this movie, not knowing almost anything about it and from the first few seconds I loved it immediately. The main characters are doll like, hyperfeminine young women, who throughout the whole film, go against the men (and patriarchy in general) that typically try to take advantage of their stereotyped femininity, by making pranks and exploiting them for food. All their said actions in the film were a rejection of the rules set in place by men and a mockery of masculine authority. Věra Chytilova fantastically uses chaotic editing (like sudden color shifts and surreal imagery) to mirror the girls' rebellion and show how they refuse order. I could go on and on about more fantastic details cause the movie has many but it’s just better to watch it yourself.
