i love when sequels are just as good, if not better, than the first movie

tbh the first time I watched this movie, i ignored how uncomfy the depiction of black women in  the first ~30 mins made me because i understood the message pta was trying to say and i loved the performances throughout the movie, but rewatching it made me realize how much i actually hate the first 30 mins of the film lol also, i have many thoughts about pta deciding to make this movie, but watching him try to refuse to engage in political commentary after making such a political film ruined my perception of the film the most :(  all of the performances were phenomenal and made me enjoy the movie so much more!! is it possible to despise the writing, but love the acting and cinematography so much it makes you think it’s one of the greatest movies ever?? 4 stars purely because everyone acted their ass off
