Great performances, great pacing, great theater experience with great friends. Leo is the fucking man I want to see him get another oscar so bad.

This movie was awesome. I feel like I would have a lot more to say but I watched this a few months back and somehow forgot to log it. Too good to ignore now though.

This is a tough one to rank because the first half was just so much better to me. I was super locked in for the first half or 2/3rds of the movie but when they began playing more into this magical birdman thing and giving less screen time to the supporting actors I started to disconnect. Its not like it fell off a cliff but the pacing certainly slowed down and its the only thing holding me back from calling this movie great. What I loved about this was the continuous camera shots and following camera angles. I fucking love when films do this it makes you feel like you are right there with the characters. Also, the performances were incredible, from everyone. Edward Norton specifically was unreal. I think he got super unlucky he was supporting the same year as JK Simmons Whiplash cause that felt oscar winning to me.

The fact this is a true story is absolutely insane. What a horrifying look inside the catholic church. Over 70 priests in Boston proper alone?? The cardinal being transferred to higher authority in Rome? Are you serious? How can anyone with any sort of authority in the Catholic church be trusted. The film itself was also so well done. A story about reporting and newspapers but the pacing was incredible and there wasn't a second I was bored. A fascinating topic and despite not learning much of their background I found myself really connected and rooting for the characters. I've heard people complain about Ruffalos performance which I don't agree with, however I am surprised Ruffalo and McAdams got oscar noms over Stanly Tucci, his performance impressed me the most.
