Godzilla
This is actually my first ever foray into the Godzilla franchise and I was not disappointed. While, yes being an old film, ever shot still holds importance and it's easy to remember the technical feat accomplished in creating Gojira here to still feel menacing. When he first came over the hill, I gasped even though I knew he was coming.
Beyond the strong filming of the destruction Gojira causes, there is still a strong political message intwined throughout the film. The fear of having a creature come from a horrific event done to your people only to have to use another weapon of mass destruction to kill it. I did feel sad for Gojira as he let out one last cry.
I also thought it was sweet that the sort of main characters brought the kid into their home after he lost his family.
Just a stunning and thought provoking film.
