The Penguin

I think getting a pretty cool genre show on screen via some pre existing IP like in this case using the world of the Batman to put on a pretty straightforward Mafia show would be something I’d quite like but I just don’t think this is for me as much as I thought it was, for all intensive purposes the show is doing a great job like no one is a bad job! The conception is pretty strong and this show is doing the things I’ve wanted contemporary television to do for a while which is to push the ball forward more when it comes connecting points between film & Tv, ultimately I just don’t think this show is for me, Collin Farrell is just marvellous don’t get me wrong BUT he gave a great supporting performances in the Batman, he had limiting screen time but he was memorable as he went very big in this role, the talking, the walking and just the whole look of that character has an impact and now it’s like that’s your protagonist for 8 hrs, it’s just a lot! The show met the assignment, I just don’t love the assignment as much as other people if that makes sense. I don’t know how long ago this was think it was fairly recently but an interim restaurant critic went around the country going to a place called “Carbone” a bit of a tangent but Carbone is a Italian American restaurant in manhattan I believe, it has recently became a celebrity spot, it’s an extravagant hard to get into place, it’s defiantly over the top but what you imagine American fine dining to be in New York anyway, the brand has be exported so this critic went all over to all these over Carbone’s, the take away was sometimes the food is good and sometimes it’s not good, you are paying a lot of money and your hearing the same song too but there’s a minority that love that, it’s the food they like to eat, the way they liked to be treated and they just know what they are getting, long story short is that is the penguin for me, it’s not a small thing for it to be a reliable and entertaining, consistent but I just don’t like that food! Also I am willing to accept this Trojan horse model of television! Andor done it excellently so I have no issues with that! (Always thought Gotham city was a city in an unnamed state but I’m guessing Gotham city is the capital city of Gotham state? ) Bravo
