Kill Bill: Vol. 1
It’s just SO PEAK istg
-I’ve literally watched this film three times in the last two and a half months and it is still as amazing as the first time.
-I lowk can’t choose which if I prefer this one or the second one more cause imo I think they are both perfect
-I LOVE the style of this film and how it’s so comic bookey and how all the gore and fights are rlly over exaggerated
-Ughh I honestly love Uma Thurman and I’m not surprised Tarentino created this role with her in mind cause honestly her rent must have been due
-I love the chapters and the nonlinear structure cause I think it just keeps the movie interesting and the sudden flashbacks are iconic especially the ones back to her wedding day
- One of my fave chapters is the one in Okinawa cause I just love how she stops being so serious for a few minutes when she speaks to Hattori abt the sake and the younger son I feel like it’s a nice reminder of who she would be if bill and the deadly vipers hadn’t done this to her. The scene upstairs with all the swords was rlly cinematic and when I first watched it I thought she’d pick the red one that she was looking at. The fact that Bill is hardly in this film but his presence is still felt by how the characters speak abt him is so cool like when hattori wrote us name out on the window I was shook. Omg but hattori is acc the goat istg he has so much aura even tho he’s literally an old man who works in a restaurant. Like when O’ren found out the brides sword was Hattori Hanzo steel she knew she was cooked.
“If on your journey you should encounter God, God will be cut”
-I kind of liked O’rens backstory bit where it was all anime cause I felt it was appropriate since she was the main target in this film and we needed to know more abt her. I also thought that it was a really unique and smart thing to do that rlly matched the films style. May be unpopular but i think O’ren is overrated like dont get me wrong i still love her but she’s not my fave and she lowk might not even be my second fave. (Elle Driver No.1!!!)
- When I first watched it I didn’t rlly like the crazy 88 fight scene cause i thought it was a bit unrealistic and went on for too long but now it might be one of my fave scenes and I love how it looks. The fight scene with Gogo was rlly cool but I wish they fought after the brides fight with the crazy 88 instead of before. Idrk why they made her stronger than O’ren if she’s her bodyguard cause imo the bride won her fight with O’ren fair and square but if the chair leg wasn’t there in her fight with Gogo she would’ve been gone.
The fight with O’ren was good although I wish they made it longer cause it felt like it was over quite quickly. I do think that it was unfair that O’ren kept sending her men after the bride before they could fight cause it just made the bride more tired and her an unfair advantage. And even thought she had this unfair advantage she still won so I don’t know why they built O’ren up to be stronger then she acc was. I did love her sword tho and think it was the best sword from both movies.
But yeah I do think that is a great film that is only improved by the second film like there are some subtle bits from the first one that connect to the second one like when she fights the crazy 88 she takes out one of there eyes and then in the second one we find out how she learnt to do that.
Finally I forgot how well this film sets up for the second one especially with the last line “Is she aware her daughter is still alive” which is just an amazing cliff hanger
