Beautiful Boy
i tried watching this movie fully once, but i couldnt finish it. i just had to turn it off because i was flooded with emotion. i finally watched it tonight, and those same emotions came back. i have a great relationship with my father, but i feel at times i can relate to what nic was going through and at the end of the day were all human, living our first lives and i just want to be kind and gentle to others and myself. this movie has shown me and i’ve came to a realization of how much you need to spend time with your parents and how much those moments are treasured and valued. i can relate to nic heavily, even though i dont struggle with drug addiction. i just want to be understood by people, i feel like i’ve always been the person and i have lost myself but found myself as im on this constant journey of curiosity but seeking the beauty in the world and in others
this film is beautiful, genuine, and the color-grading evokes so many feelings and this earthy appeal that i love. the fact that the father loves his son so much is true fatherly love even when there were bumps in their relationship and his son struggled with addiction. he wanted the best for him always and loved his son.
i wrote a little poem inspired by this film, darkness is usually associated with something that we’re afraid of, the unknown is what we can’t expect. however the darkness can be an understanding friend to find the light during the darkness. the same way the light can be an understanding friend as well.
when the night learns your name

*
the night welcomes,
your being
you are at peace now,
comforted by the silence
like a soft hum of wind through trees
swaying without intention.
*
*
the stars offer you light,
awaiting your slumber
while the earth cradles you,
as it waits, breathing with you,
the darkness is your home tonight
there is no distance between light and darkness,
just your presence in clarity
