Frankenstein
guillermo del torro’s frankenstein is a hymn to loneliness - yet aching with tenderness and empathy. the creature is not grotesque, but human. he wants to feel vulnerability, to taste emotions of humanity - stitched together with love and guilt. the remnants of what’s left of a man who wanted to play god only to regret the creation that hurt more than himself.
mia goth is the pulse of this film. there’s something so elegant and delicate about her, she carries the film’s warmth and understanding in her eyes - the quiet understanding that creatures are never born but made. the artificialness of man, longing only to be loved by a woman - by the very grace he tried to imitate
guillermo del torro had me tearing up throughout the film. striking visuals of every frame, shadow, moment, all seemed to draw out the empathy throughout the story.
i love you mia goth, thank you for carrying this out by your gaze ❤️
