The Prestige
The Prestige: a film that depicts obsession and rivalry at its finest showing how going down the rabbit hole of obsession can ruin one’s life.
Christopher Nolan never ceases to amaze me with his films, the filmic devices, the colour coding, but most of all the films story itself. Twists and turns, not knowing what’s coming next is one of the reasons he’s one of the highest rated screenwriters of all time Christian bales performance in this film has to be one of my favourites from him, Nolan really knows how to pick his cast, Hugh Jackman and bales dialogues at the end felt fluid and real, it felt like Jackman was putting together everything that had happend and realised what was going on, his voice felt full of emotions and just felt so raw. The setting of this film is another thing I love, it felt like you had been stripped out of your living room or the theatres or wherever your watching this movie and taken to the late 1800s to early 1900s the atmosphere felt real and was one of the reasons I loved this film. David Bowes portrayal of nikola Tesla was also incredible from his actions down the the way he spoke everything felt authentic for the time. Let’s just chat about this movies plot twist, I won’t spoil anything I just want to say how Nolan put it together was Incredible, the build up was intense and then when it hits you it hits you like a fast moving train and everything comes to you and once, I was physically taken aback with my jaw on the floor. this movies messed up in a way that you only really find out at the end.
Robert Angier: No one cares about the man in the box, the man who disappears.
Nikola Tesla: You're familiar with the phrase "man's reach exceeds his grasp"? It's a lie: man's grasp exceeds his nerve.
Alfred Borden: We both had half of a full life, which was somehow enough for us. But not for them.
Alfred Borden: See, sacrifice, Robert. That's the price of a good trick. But you wouldn't know anything about that, would you?
