Whiplash
This movie is a humiliating ritual for ambitious students who knows that they can do better but doesn't get the patience and care from those around them to the point where they're dragging their body and wearing them down for a standing ovation only to crash and burn by the end feeling more like nothing but a corpse.
The film gave me a whole wave of anxiety as if I am a prey being stalked by a predator not knowing when it will pounced me at any given time; The unpredictability of someone that is supposed to help and guide you will bring anyone down to a spiral.
I have seen people that watched film points out how we should be obsessed with our crafts to achieve a higher (if not the highest) level of appraisal while missing the point how it is more Andrew's discipline and hard work that give him the skill set to work to improve rather than perfection and obsession.
The movie does a very good job at showing how hard work takes you anywhere while also shows how easily people turns a blind eye to when that something becomes toxic just because it produces results.
I enjoy this movie but I hate it.
