I remember the description in the book where amir was in a hospital room. He hadn’t prayed or thought about god in years but in that room he was desperate so he knelt down and whispered the broken Arabic he could remember. I’ve always felt as if that small moment just encapsulates everything this story stands for. In times of desperation people will look up to the sky and wish for something so much it’ll turn into a prayer. You might not believe in god but if you want something bad enough it’ll feel the same.
