Incendies
I don't know how such a complex and moving film can fit in such a simple yet still powerful meaning, though Vilenevue seems to capture the horrors of war and the adventure of character and life perfectly through this film. Being new to his filmography, watching this as the second movie of his was quite a surprise. It not only shocked me emotionally, but also gave me a new perspective on how the circle of life carries one, or many people, and the impact that one person's actions can have upon a family tree. Getting down, now not to the point of the righting, but the acting. We see the leads take a full emotional toll on the viewer, as Désmoreaux-Poulin goes back through the life of her character's mother. She portrays such beautiful emotion, portraying exactly how one would act upon such a harrowing journey. Though her acting isn't the only highlight of this film. Azabal, as the mother, delivers an amazing performance on screen, and the final realization at the end of the movie makes her acting even more compelling. In all, the development, direction, and acting would all come together to create what I view as a perfect image of a movie.
