AGAIN

As a kid I so fondly remember watching he man on DVDs my mom would rent for me at the library. I grew to love and adore the franchise. It was heart breaking watching Jared Leto massacre this franchise that I hold so dear to my heart.

I adore this movie. Hell I love it with all of my heart. It is and will always be one of my favorite movies of all time. But in this search to re examine what my favorite movies are I need to be completely honest and real with myself here. There's nothing wrong with this movie and I genuinely don't think it has a singular flaw. But the movies I'm putting above it just mean something more to me entirely. Scott Pilgrim came to me at a time where I really needed something like it and it's become one of my favorite pieces of media since. Get out was one of the first times I had ever seen someone so accurately display the horrors of being a POC in spaces where people want you to think you're wanted but you never really were. And Aladdin taught me at a formative age that the color of my skin didn't have to be something I hated. Across just hadn't formed a connection with me that way yet. Not that it hasn't formed a connection of any sort. But just not in the same deeply personal way that the others do. I adore this movie and it warms my heart but the ones above it mean something much deeper to me. It will always be extremely high on my list of movies and I'll always love it. I just know when I rewatch into the spiderverse at the end of this 54 movie long binge it'll be special. I have no doubt in my mind that beyond the spiderverse will be even better than this masterpiece and the spiderverse trilogy will be the best ever made.
