Shazam!
This movie is phenomenal. There's no easier way to say it. Shazam! is one of the most wholesome, heartwarming, comedic, comic book movies made and I would say the only other comic book movie that could rival it would be Into The Spider-Verse and Deadpool. Every joke lands and the plot and pacing of the movie was close to perfect. My only critique was that Dr. Sivanna, the villain, was a bit of a stereotypical baddie since I didn't find his Daddy Issues excuse to be enough reason to him wanting to take over the world, but the movie does poke fun at this. Of course, the movie being self-aware doesn't automatically give them a pass, but I still found it enjoyable and I wouldn't take any points off for Dr. Sivanna's "basic" motives, since he was still a badass nevertheless. The acting in this movie was incredible, and I need to applaud Jack Dylan Grazer, who played Freddy Freeman, as he just blew me away. He was absolutely perfect for Freddy, and I found myself loving him more in each scene he was in. If you want to see a family movie, see Shazam!. If you want to see a good comic book movie, see Shazam!. If you want to see a movie with diversity, see Shazam!. DC has done it again, Shazam! is a masterpiece.
