Good Time
watching this literally feels like being trapped in a room with a ticking bomb and no exit.
as a brother it actually terrified me because it shows how you can trick yourself into thinking you’re being a hero when you’re actually just a disaster, like the way Connie keeps saying he’s doing everything for Nick but he’s really just dragging him into a bank robbery and then a prison cell and then a series of violent situations that Nick can’t even fully understand.
and it made me think about how many times I’ve told my brother what to do or tried to "fix" his life while actually just making things way more stressful for him, and by the time the movie ended I felt sick to my stomach because I realized that Connie’s version of love is actually just a form of control that ruins every single person he touches, and it really forced me to look at my own life and wonder if the loyalty I feel for my brother is actually helping him grow up or if I’m just using him to feel like I have some kind of purpose, which is the scariest realization I've ever had from a movie because it means that being a "good brother" might actually mean admitting you're the problem and walking away so they can finally be at rest...
and it just keeps going and going with no breaks to the point where I felt like I couldn't even breathe because every time Connie finds a new way to lie or manipulate someone it just digs a deeper hole for Nick to fall into, and it honestly made me feel guilty for all the times I thought I knew what was best for myself.
in the final scene we finally see Nick in a place where people are actually trying to help him properly, it hits you like a truck.
the most dangerous thing in Nick's life wasn't the police or the jail or the guys they were fighting but it was actually just his own brother's obsession with being his savior.
this is one of the best movies i have ever seen and i really mean it
