There’s something to be said for these movies outside of the obvious masterclass in CGI and world building in general. There is an attempt to explore found family, grief, loss of culture through colonization, and the inherent destruction to nature that man brings. The exploration of these themes, as well as top shelf CGI, does not, however, keep this movie from feeling stale. The runtime is atrocious and you feel every minute of it. Yet again, the plot takes powerful themes and beautiful imagery and smashes them together in a way that is unfortunately rather forgettable.
