Rushmore
“I really love the pre-grand budapest hotel wes anderson”.
W.A. really caught lightning in a bottle with this one before his style became a self-parody. Max is the blueprint for being both completely insufferable and deeply relatable. The camerawork and the soundtrack absolutely carry, but honestly, it’s the fact that everyone in this movie is a hot mess. And that line about finding what you love and doing it for the rest of your life? hit a little too close to home. It leaves you feeling that weird, specific mix of pessimistic but hopeful.
