Really was on the fence but I think this one is almost perfect and definitely gives me those Jo Jo Rabbit vibes in such creative ways. Boy or Alamein Jr I suppose is such a captivating lead. So much emotion being said with no words which really let’s the movie shine it's gorgeous New Zealand backdrop and lets scenes naturally play. Nothing feels forced or contrived it's all so organic. The band of kids were all so endearing especially Destiny and her interactions with Boy all pretty short but tell their own short story. Alamein himself is also such a great character as well I loved the hulk conversation so much I don't know it spoke a lot to me. My step father was very similar to Alamein and I too posted him on this pedestal and ostracized the people who saw him for what he truly was.
