*i put the “not” in astronaut* i actually forgot this was fiction for a second because i had to step back and be like… you’re telling me they DIDN’T film this in space??? just blown away by how captivating and immersive and touching this story is. for being 2 and a half hours long, it truly does not drag and just keeps you wondering what’s going to happen next. the cinematography and color grading is just spectacular. amaze amaze amaze. i too would like to live on rocky's planet with ryan gosling… also i (unknowingly) wore the exact same pair of low top off-white converse that ryland grace wears in the movie and i think that was genuinely divine intervention.

this film made me feel hopeful, that even through so many mistakes and uncomfortable situations and circumstances that life will get better. frances is such a real character because she’s representative of what the reality is for a lot of artists trying to make a decent living. still, her aspiration to want to do more and not just settle for something less is what’s truly the ultimate goal for creatives. as an artist myself, i really relate to her :) also, all the needle drops were absolute perfection, and the score added so much!

rewatching because i just finished planning my paris trip itinerary for this simmer :) this movie is so comforting, i can’t wait to visit some of the filming locations!

some of the choreo from can’t stop singing looks awfully similar to the one in la land land… damien chazelle you got some explaining to do.
