I wish there were a film made today just like this with the higher budgets we see in modern hollywood film making. I've never heard anyone describe it this way so I don't know if I'm copying anyone but this feels like a kind of arthouse sword and sorcery film in a similar vein to Lucio Fulci's Conquest but instead it's West African and much better. Even the Northman would also be a good comparison in my opinion.
