Should pale death with treble dread
make the ocean caves our bed,
God who hear'st the surges roll,
deign to save he suppliant soul.

The Lighthouse (2019) left me staring at the screen, trapped somewhere between amazement and unease. It’s like every element of the film crawled its way into my mind and stayed there. The black and white cinematography didn’t just add to the film, it completly transformed it and pulled me into that strange isolated world. The shadows and light, the crashing waves, and that blaring foghorn, it all felt like I was pulled deeper and deeper into that madness and insanity which I couldn’t escape.
Willem Dafoe and Robert Pattinson give such intense performances, they don’t just play characters; they bring out something raw and disturbing. Dafoe’s long, weird speeches and the way Pattinson’s silence breaks into anger or fear felt so real, it was extremely unsettling.
And talk about the story itself. A creepy blend of myth, isolation, and obsession. The film doesn't give you easy answers, but that’s what makes it stick in your mind. It’s this haunting exploration of human psychology and what happens when people are left alone with only the sea and their own minds as company.**
