Fantastic movie. I’m not going to go into detail about the amazing music, the beautiful scenes, or even the rich storyline (which is fantastic). I want to talk about the prevailing themes in this movie. First of which is this sense of purpose. The two major characters have a purpose in their lives, one to be a musician the other to be reunited with his family just one more time. But it manifests in different ways. It guides and propelles our protagonists differently. Allowing this sense of purpose to guide their steps despite what everyone around them thinks. The other theme that stood out for me is this sense of belonging. That desire to be a part of something bigger than yourself, which in this movie was family. Wanting to be reunited. Wanting to be loved. Wanting to be remembered. In some ways we all struggle with the same things the characters in this movie struggle with.  Major kudos to Pixar continually outdoing themselves and creating these amazing works of art.
